Back before Loki was born, Iu and I used to talk to each other in the evening. But after Loki was born, the evenings became a competition between getting Loki to sleep, eating and chilling out vacuously in front of the box, exhausted, before going to bed, with the inevitable midnight screech from Loki calling one of us to attend on him again.
For the last 2 years, conversations in the evenings between us that haven't involved planning for, reacting to, or engaging with Loki probably take up about 10 minutes a week. An example of one of these snatched adult moments was last week on learning that the great actress Glenda Jackson had died aged 87.
Just in case you were also brought up in a Communist totalitarian state for much of your youth, here is a picture of Glenda Jackson in the role of Lear.
For a good deal of the second part of the play, she wasn't wearing her trousers, which this photo mercifully doesn't reveal.
Now for clarity's sake, this is Janet Jackson, the sister of the late popstar Michael Jackson, and a recognised pop icon in her own right.
She's not 87.
A great actress, agree, but I’m glad that Janet is not 87, I felt the world was going mad if this was true 😁
