The family is back
With Iu and Loki back from Romania, we decided to do an outing together, particularly as the rain prevented the hordes from descending for Saturday tennis at ours. This is how it played out... Not that there's anything wrong with wanting to marry your best friend, even if he's the same sex. Honest.

Left on my own
It's very rare that Iu and Loki and I are apart of a weekend. But recently, Iu and Loki went for a flying visit (a couple of nights) to Romania to visit rellies, leaving me to hold the fort, mid-diet on my own back in London. This proved to be problematic for me... I don't manage well left to my own devices.

North London intelligentsia
Every Saturday we have Loki's friends and their family round to play tennis in the courts inside our compound. The kids stay on afterwards and trash the joint, while the parents eat us out of house and home and shoot the breeze. People often complain that digital media stored in Data Centres is basically slop and all we are doing is destroying the environment for vanity trash that should be deleted. But the same could be said for the hot air that comes out of our mouths too.

Endurance tests getting harder
As Loki settles into being 5, the number of concert performances we have to goto is increasing with his higher level of stamina. Unfortunately, this seems to be in an inverse ratio to ours... Only another 13 years to go of this.

First school sporting event
Our 4 yo son Loki is now in Reception and yesterday he had his first school football tournament. Big event - notable for being a rare occasion where I didn't bring my semi-professional camera to take snaps. I always look a bit of a weirdo amongst the parents with their iphones next to me with my enormous telephoto lens like I'm trying to compensate for some biological inadequacy. But if I don't take the snaps, then the parents get disappointed that they don't have the cool cl

Brave parenting
When your daughter shows distress about the state of her relationship, it is very tempting as a father to step in and take action. But the truth is, I'm too fat, have weak wrists, and basically prefer sitting in the living room to any form of activity, so operate under a quite tight constraints when it comes to doing anything to help. Nevertheless, there are things you can do. Impactful things...
