Day Ninety Seven - lessons after 3 months

Updated: Apr 4

This cartoon strip is on the closing page of the first book describing my dieting journey. It seems an opportune time to summarise what I have learned after the first 97 days of this experience.

All of it is totally useless for anyone undertaking their own dieting plan. It seems to me that the pathway to success is all about finding the things that motivate you, and you alone. Stuff that I've gone through and done would in all likelihood be totally unsuitable for almost everyone except people like me.

And thanks to Christ, very few people are.

All of these tips are worth the financial equivalent of the time it took to read them - which is piss all unless you're Elon Musk.

I suppose the real message I want to relay after this first period is that you don't have to follow any diet recommendation at all - losing weight can be a haphazard exercise with ups and downs, forward and backward steps, and moments of self indulgence. But so long as you keep your eye on the longer term goal, well, there's a chance that after a while, you'll eat and drink less than you did.

In my case, reduction of bad habits is all it takes to have a big impact to reverse the direction of travel I was heading.

Let's see how the next 3 months pans out.

P.S.

Shout out to my friend and colleague Rolf Meakin who's wife Theresa has a birthday tomorrow and his earlier in the month. And came up with the word 'blogtoon'. Many happy returns to both.
