Being fat is a symptom of something else. Some might say 'yeh, eating'. And they'd be right.
However, others with greater depth than the ones who leapt in first like that would also say that the 'something else' is the cause of why you eat too much. And tackling that is the thing to get on top of if you want your diet to succeed.
My view is relatively simple. I eat and drink too much because it's nice. And the things I like make you fat. Life would be blissful if the things that are tasty and fun didn't come with the strings attached of making you a lardy.
If beer and food didn't make you fat, no one would be saying 'what's the deeper issue behind you doing things you enjoy doing?'
It's just a sad fact of life that cool stuff has to be done in moderation or else you turn into a fatty. So it's all about how to defer or curtail enjoyment, rather than figure out how messed up I am as a person.
When they say 'it's about a lifestyle change', they mean 'it's about having less fun. Suck it up'.
