One Hundred and Forty Three - retro tech

This is a musing from my aeroplane travels last week. Despite the incredible ease in which we can go from Germany to Northern Ireland in a matter of hours through the phenomena of flight (that didn't exist 120 years ago), it was still an extremely tiresome experience.

It was all about the minutiae. And one aspect that I observed on my travels was the proliferation of cables in my bag....

I was in Snappy Snaps in Hampstead yesterday getting one of these pictures printed and a young couple came into the shop with a roll of film and a traditional camera. 'Do you know how to load this' they asked. None of the staff had a clue, all of them being under 25.

Firstly, using traditional film sucks. Secondly, I can't believe no one knows how to use it anymore. Thirdly, young people think it's cool.

I had to explain to them not to open the back of the camera before they've rewound the used film into the cannister. They looked at me like I was a wizard from another era.

I guess I am.

But that doesn't change the point, young people seem increasingly willing to adopt old fashioned inconveniences and view them as funky. Idiots.
