We give a lot of prestige to surgeons but from what I can see they're basically butchers in fancier aprons. That seems to be the case with the specialists dealing with my mother's eye.

I would feel sympathy for the cyclops were it not for the fact that she gleefully declares 'of course, it's inherited so this is all going to happen to you soon'.

It's almost enough to put you off your food. But not quite.
