Getting diversity and inclusion right

Updated: Jan 30

The UK newspaper the Guardian published a survey recently that showed that girls aged between 7 - 21 in the UK felt more miserable in the 2020's than girls in previous survey periods. Having a 16 year old daughter, I think they should have added ...'so imagine how their dads' feel?' It's no picnic.

But no dice. The article pushed the line about how little we have done to encourage young women to be at the best of their potential. That got me thinking about StrategyMan's response to Diversity and Inclusion - a topic so sensitive I'm looking over my shoulder as I type the words onto this page.

'Let's use this survey as an example' I mused to myself. 'All I need to do is draw some teenagers looking moody and see how Strategy Man reacts'. Where to find images of moody teenage girls for me to get ideas? The web will provide.

The only downside of this is that now on my work internet history are the words 'teenage girls' and 'images'.

Why a 50+ management consultant who works in the telecoms sector would type the words 'teenage girls' and search for images of them is easily explained if you're reading this.

But my firm's IT is not reading this. They're reading my search history, and adding more and more reasons to the list to boost Diversity and Inclusion by booting out the old, white, fat fart with the peculiar interest in young women.
