Quite a lot of businesses are going through restructuring at the moment, which can cause anxiety and tension in both the management team and their staff. One way to try to diffuse some of this concern is through open fora meetings where staff get the opportunity to raise questions to the leadership and hear a candid response.
Have a guess where I sit in these type of meetings - in a green cardigan with a brownish skirt. My recent interchange involved the big cheese advising me to mind my language when I referred to my team being 'shunted' into another business unit, shortly after he'd said 'I can't offer you the money shot on this deal because there's still much to be worked out'.
My understanding of a money shot is consistent with the Urban Dictionary definition. Mind you, 'shunt' in the Urban Dictionary is no better. But context is everything and 'money shot' is unambiguously a term derived from and used expressly in the pornographic film industry.
I might mention that in the next management briefing.
